Tiki!

I tried something a little different with my new Drawer Geeks submission this week. After scanning in my initial pencil sketch, I inked and colored it all in Flash. It was cool and different. I don't think I've ever tried to get a clean final line from Flash so it was a neat experiment.

After messing around with colors in Flash, I then exported the image into Photoshop where I overlaid paper and wood textures adjusting their opacity, levels, and curves. All in all, kind of a neat look!

Love the end result here. You'd think the texture would be a superficial addition, but it definitely adds a ton. Your colors in the final are more grounded in browns and oranges, which I think makes it more aesthetically pleasing...reigning the colors into a family of similar hues.

Sweeet...how'd you like drawing in Flash? It's basically all I ever do...though I've warmed up to drawing in Photoshop now. I get more of an organic line. I tend to get obsessive about my line smoothing in Flash.

Make more!!!

Thanks Bob! I actually should have mentioned I only threw it into Photoshop with the intent to save it. =D I wasn't too happy with my coloring job in Flash and needed to get some kind of color key going. I'm glad the result helped so much while not creating a "digital Photoshop filtered" look. Glad you like!

Hey Renee! Inking in Flash was interesting and a bit new to me. I'd love to try again for sure! You and Bob are pros so I'll need to step up my game! ;D
