Painting studies

Ok, here's some more life studies. I know, pretty boring but hey! They don't have to be! Look at the first guy in the yellow rain jacket. That's funny stuff! And how about the big hairy guy with the tiny sumbrarro? That's rich! Oh man, I'm busting a gut over these. But if you're not, don't worry! I'll be posting some fun cartoon stuff soon...

Jammin' to some tunes!

Here's another one in kind of a goofy fun style. Have a good one everybody!

GARRHH!

Had a great drawing night last night! You know those nights where you just can't seem to put down the pen? Those nights where drawing seems BRAND new to you- like it's the first time you're discovering this great pleasure.

It was 2:30 before I knew it and just forced myself to go to bed. I'm usually more productive in the morning than the night so it was a strange occurrence for me. But a lot of fun!

I busted out the crow quill and drew a few characters. Here's one, the inks and then the colored version. Have a good one everyone!

Elvgren Study

Kass and I bought a great bargain book at Barnes and Noble filled with tons of Elvgren's babes called "Gil Elvgren The Complete Pin-Ups". They're painted beautifully and are a real treat to look at! Thought I'd take a stab a one of his great poses.

Crystal Caves!

Here is my drawer geeks submission for the theme "classic arcade".

Growing up my brothers and I didn't have any video game systems but instead played old DOS games (which were GREAT!). I believe my Dad had a friend who worked for a computer company or something. This friend was our personal hook-up for all things DOS. Woo-hoo!

Among Jill of the Jungle and Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure, Crystal Caves was a big favorite in the Houghton household! It was a great game. I think I need to find an emulator for my computer so I can play this lil' gem again. =D

Duo-Shade!

My buddy Dave was able to get his hands on some Duo-Shade board! I've always heard and seen the stuff but have never been able to give it a whirl until yesterday at lunch. Here's a 20 minute or so drawing that I played around with. Apparently the stuff is pretty hard to get as not many (if any) people are making it anymore. Anyone know where you can get this stuff?

XXL Burrito!

I'd be telling the truth if I said this hasn't happened to me lately but I'd be lying if I said it's never happened... ugh.

Have a good one everyone!

Art RAGE!

I've been playing around with the program, Art Rage for the past couple days and have been having a lot of fun! Having not used Corel Painter too much, I can't compare the two but Art Rage is really simple to use and above all costs a measly $25. Thanks to Bob and Sherm for turning me onto this!

Happy Drunk

Gettin' messy with some good ol' digital paint...

Found it!

I woke up this morning to find a beautiful snowfall. A great treat for my last day in the country.

It's off to camp we go!

I feel as if I've been in a bit of a drawing slump lately with not drawing for a couple weeks over the holidays. I think I was drawing too much and not allowing enough time for things like brainstorming and letting myself get lost in my imagination. Then I went to the other extreme and haven't been drawing enough.

As my buddy Pascal told me, "being in a drawing slump is one thing, STOPPING to do images is another." So from now on, I'm going to be posting every week day with SOMETHING.

Speaking of Pascal, this drawing was so inspired by his work, I feel all silly inside.

Fairy Tale

Hey Everybody!

Hope everyone had very happy holidays and are back and fully recovered! I know I am and am itching to get back to working on some fun upcoming projects.

Here are a few quick drawings I did for a class project. We had to write and illustrate a fairy tale and these are around half of the drawings I did. It was towards the end of the semester and things got pretty hectic. I believe I did about 12 or 14 of these guys in a few short hours- it was fun though!
