Mojotown Ad

I recently finished up another ad illustration for Mojotown. A quick but fun job, they wanted to go with a very friendly vintage feel depicting their Mojoman in a classy 1950s gas station attendant's uniform.

Here's my initial sketch:

The clean-up vector illustration done in Adobe Illustrator.

And a rough design showing how they might be able to incorporate text (and which fonts to use) into the illustration. Ultimately, they came up with the final copy and finished with a nice ad.

Thanks Mojotown!

Very cool! Do you usually start out with a pencil sketch first, and then finish up in Illustrator? Or do you tend to sketch straight into Illustrator/Photoshop via tablet? The vector graphics are great and seem to be a necessity these days for the magazine spots.

Hey Greg- whenever I work in Illustrator, I work off of a pencil sketch. I find it too difficult to sketch in Illustrator. Although, I often sketch into PS and use PS as a starting point in my illustrationa before printing the sketch out and inking it or inking it in Illustrator.
